Topic: english couple with 11 month old baby looking to move to southern Spain
User: wayneandcarmel (view profile)15 Mar 2009 - 21:55
We are seriously looking at moving to Southern Spain (Nerja/Estepona has caught the eye) and plan a trip to both places to have a look around.
I am 27 and my partner 24 and would obviously need employment and long term accomodation.

Any advice on schooling and work etc would be greatly appreciated.

hi there

you should find rented accommodation quite easily in either of those two places - there's are lots of properties being rented now because the owners can't sell.

But jobs may not be easy to come by. In fact, if I was moving to spain now, I would make sure I had at least a year's worth of money (or a job to go to, but that's unlikely). all the estate agents and construction companies have been laying off staff, and it looks like even the bar work will be thin on the ground this summer. it may be different if you are qualified in something that will travel easily, if you see what I mean.

childcare shouldn't be a problem though - there are lots of good nurseries (albeit with much higher staff ratios than you may be used to), and they're not expensive.
